I love the song ‘This Is Me’ by Bryan Adams. I loved it so much that it was the song we played for our first dance at our wedding. I love the film it’s linked to, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, although I can’t watch it without crying. Mind you, if you ask my son, he’ll tell you there’s not much I can’t watch without crying these days – thank you, hormones!

The sky was so beautiful this morning that I took a photo to share with you. As usual, I’ve been reading and listening to books, articles, and people, continuing on my journey of self-development and business development. Perhaps reaching the milestone of a half-century on this earth has prompted even more reflection than usual! Hence, ‘It’s a new day, it’s a new plan’ – which, in case you hadn’t realised it, is from the Bryan Adams song ‘This Is Me’.

One of many inspiring books I’ve listened to is ‘Diary of a CEO’ by Steven Bartlett. Listening to the podcast of the same name is on my to-do list. I haven’t seen him on Dragon’s Den, as I very rarely watch TV other than to enjoy a film with my son every so often. Anyway, it’s safe to say Steven has been successful on a variety of levels. I was delighted to read the first of his 33 ‘laws’ from the book, explaining how important it is to teach, which fits entirely with my ‘new plan’.

First, we learn, then we do, then we teach. I am a lifelong learner. I love learning. I want to share more of this learning with you. As an ACPAT and RAMP Registered Chartered Physiotherapist, I have a Bachelor’s degree from Kings College London, a Master’s degree from the Royal Veterinary College, and a Bachelor’s degree from the Open University. Physiotherapy is an evidence-based profession, and I am used to reading and understanding the science relating to physical health.

I’m fascinated by knowledge, old and new, on the well-being of humans and horses. This leads me to devour books and podcasts on the subjects of mental, physical, and emotional health, as well as on business and life development and performance. I want to get better at sharing my learning with you as part of my overarching goal to be part of the conversation that is making the world a better place for horses and their humans. Next year, I’m excited to enrol in a coaching course with Synergia Coaching. For now, I’ve enrolled on an Open University course titled, ‘Introduction to Business and Workplace Coaching’. This course is aimed at those who ‘have an interest in people, their development, wellbeing and performance’. That sounds like me!

I plan to use this understanding of coaching to communicate better with you in person and online. I aim to share what I have learned about health and well-being so that you can pick and choose the information that’s helpful to you without spending so much time searching. When I discuss something that resonates with you, you’ll be able to find the relevant book, podcast, or scientific paper, and dive deep into the rabbit hole yourself.

So how is this a ‘new plan’? Haven’t I always shared my learning through my books, online courses, blogs, and social media? Well, yes, I have! This is different because, for now, at least, I will focus more fully on this aspect of my world – my own learning. Perhaps it won’t look any different to you from the outside, or maybe it will. But I feel different inside. I feel I’ve given myself permission to dive deep into the world of learning yet again. It’s as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I’ve taken the self-imposed pressure off, and I’m allowing myself to have fun.

My business continues to be treating horses. Through helping the horses, I have always tried to help their humans. I’m proud of the books I’ve written and the online courses I’ve developed, and no doubt there will be more to come in the future., and to share it online rather than just with my face-to-face clients. I’ll start small, with daily ‘bite-size’ chunks on my YouTube channel. If you’re not already subscribed, please take a minute to join me there. Who knows where this will lead or what it might grow into? There’s no plan for that just yet. And that, as anyone who has worked with me knows, in itself is a new plan for me!
