“Fight, then fight again, then keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never completely eradicated” J K Rowling, Half Blood Prince
It’s easy to wonder whether it’s worth keeping going in some situations. You know that no matter how much effort you put in, your actions won’t make any difference. There is a situation going on in my life at the moment where this is the case. I spent a lot of emotional energy deciding whether or not I should keep going.
There are many factors that have come together to help me make the decision to keep going, and I would include Dumbledore’s words (see the above) in that decision making process. But I can tell you for sure is that it’s much easier having made the decision to keep fighting. Who knows which straw might be the one that breaks the camel’s back, that creates the change, or that triggers a difference. The emotional energy that I was spending making a decision can now be spent fighting instead.
If you are struggling to to know whether you should keep going, try making a decision one way or the other, and living with it for a few days. I’s likely that it will feel like the right decision, or the wrong decision, and perhaps that will help you to decide one way or the other.
If you’re in this situation, I’m sending you love and hugs, and the strength to see it through. And a bit of luck to help you along the way!
