Using Robotic Engineering To Develop A Next Generation Horseback Riding Simulator With Multiple Equestrian Industry Applications

Professor Handroos introduced us to the HORZIM project, the development of a riding simulator. The team, which includes two physiotherapists, have researched the market, the tech, and have filed for 2 patents. Amongst other things, this simulator has exciting possibilities for hippotherapy (physiotherapy on horseback). The symmetrical movement of the model horse makes for a safer environment for therapy, both for rider and for physiotherapist. The use of a model horse would mean less need for volunteers, which could potentially make Riding for the Disabled more available to more riders.
